Challenges... We all face them. It seems like in every aspect of our lives we have to come face to face with challenges. I don’t think I need to do much convincing for you to agree with me. I am sure as you read this you have had at least one challenge already come to your mind. I know as I write this I can think of many.
Since we have to face them anyway, why not use them to our advantage! Is it possible to use challenges to help us become more successful? The answer is a strong YES! Everyone faces challenges. It is those individuals who figure out how to use them to their advantage that ends up standing at the peak of success in their journey. Today, I wanted to share how you can do this as well!
The first and most vital aspect of learning to utilize challenges to your advantage is how you look at them. Most individuals run from challenges and try to avoid them in every way they can. But if we are afraid to face challenges, we are going to limit ourselves tremendously. So how can we change our perception and not be fearful of challenges?
Choose to look at every challenge or obstacle as an opportunity that can make you better, stronger and wiser. Instead of looking at an obstacle as something to be scared of, look forward to the next challenge because it is your next step in training! You have the opportunity to get emotionally and psychologically stronger!
You could compare this to how an individual gets physically stronger. When our body builds muscle it goes through a process that is parallel to the process we go through psychologically.
When I first started lifting I had to start out with smaller weights and work my way up over time just like anyone else. As I lifted on an ongoing basis I was able to handle more and more weight. But how does our body do this? When we lift weights it actually breaks down muscle tissue and then your body repairs the muscle to become stronger so it can handle more weight.
Weight training is a tedious process. It takes time and persistence. It takes pushing our muscles to the max every time we go back so we can become stronger. You are going to need to prepare yourself for the same process in your mind and be consistent in the thoughts I am sharing with you so you can become a psychological bodybuilder.
Every time we choose to face a challenge the correct way we become psychologically stronger. So next time you face a challenge be ready to tell yourself… This is my opportunity to grow. In physical weight training, the more muscle mass and muscle strength you obtain give you the ability to handle heavier weights. The more pressure you can handle, the more opportunities you will be able to take advantage of.
If you want to become unlimited, you need to be willing to face and handle more challenges or pressure. By changing your perspective on challenges this will help launch you forward in an accelerated way in your journey to your peak of success.
Every time I am faced with a new challenge I take a moment to tell myself I am thankful for the opportunity. This is a good step to do. Your emotions will not fall in line at first but they will over time. Remember, our emotions are simply chemical reactions and neurons communicating. You are not your emotions, you are your choices.
I remember putting this new principle into action several years ago. It was hard! Is it hard! Be ready for that. When you first start to put this into action tell yourself, you are not your emotions, you are your choices. If you are consistent in choosing to think this way, you will be able to reprogram yourself overtime and your emotions will fall in line.
Give this a try. Start incorporating this principle in your daily life. In time, you will recognize a difference in your mindset and how you function. You will be able to handle more pressure and open up doors in your life you did not even know were there!
If you have any questions or any tips, please comment. I look forward to interacting with you. Be blessed!
